The best gift for birthday is having a good time with friends. This year, we had dinner in Que Pasa at Knutsford Terrace to celebrate my birthday. This is my first time to eat Mexico food and better than I thought. This is a very nice restaurant with relaxing atmosphere. Their signature is the cactus in front of the entrance. We have ordered a combo with four items, included air-dried Iberico ham, squid, wild mushrooms and seared cubical beef. It’s good but no special! Then, we have cactus salad. The taste of cactus is similar as green pepper but much crispy and juicy. The sauce is spicy salsa in a mustard and orange vinaigrette mix with the fresh cactus, it’s so fantastic! For Mexico food, Taco is an item you can’t miss. The crispy-fried corn taco shells pocketed with grilled beef, avocado and lettuce with sour cream, it’s delicious. It’s perfect to have Tropical cocktails when you are having these fantastic foods.

Knutsford Terrace is littered with all types of restaurants from Italian to Japanese to Chinese to South Asian to American. But Que Pasa is the lone Mexican/Spanish restaurant in that little nook of TST. Of course I could be wrong as I didn't check each and every restaurant in the strip. But even if there were other Mexican/Spanish restaurants in the area, I'd probably still give my vote to Que Pasa if only for their amazing Mojitos. While waiting for our orders to come, we were served with a basket full of warm, fresh bread that came with a tasty (although oily) chili dip.We started dinner off with a few appetizers. We had the grilled baby squids with garlic and lemon; baby octopus in sliced peppers and olive oil; and the salmon on toast which was heavenly to say the least. The salmon is smoked to salty-perfection and served on top of an appropriate amount of creamy cream cheese on fresh, crispy toast. The seafood baby octopus and squid were fresh and did not have a fishy-after taste. The server told us that the baby squid would be a little spicy because of all the peppers but I didn't think it was spicy at all.We then had the Linguine con Gambas. The linguine was al dente and the shrimp were large and chunky. I wasn't expecting such a large helping and although the pasta was really good, we weren't able to finish it. (We did finish the gambas off though.)Then we had the Lamb Chop and Paella. The lamb was nicely marinated with herbs so it didn't have the usual pungent lamb-taste and it was so tender, I hardly had to use my knife to cut it. I loved the paella at Que Pasa! It was perfect! It wasn't too dry, it wasn't "soupy" or "wet" and the rice, much like the linguine we had earlier, was al dente and every spoon-full gave me all the flavours that I was expecting. For dessert, we had this funny looking pudding. I have no idea if this is authentic Mexican or Spanish (it tasted more like English). It wasn't bad, but it wasn't exceptionally good either. Maybe we should've ordered something else. And did I mention the Mojito? And the Margarita? Probably the best Mojitos and Margaritas in town! Plus, their happy hour (or buy one, take one period) is until 9pm so Tequila-based beverage lovers can load up until it's time to move on to another establishment or call it a night. As a bonus, the restaurant features a two-person combo that plays acoustic guitar and sings old Spanish songs while you enjoy your dinner. If you're on a date, you could request the singing duo to play your song and they would come to your table and serenade you while you drink your Mojito.
