I had come for lunch with some colleagues to celebrate the holiday season. When we arrived at our booking time, the restaurant was empty, including the reception area. After looking around for a member of staff for 5 minutes, someone showed up from the kitchen to take care of us. We ordered the set lunch menu. After looking around for a member of staff for 5 minutes, someone showed up from the kitchen to take care of us. We ordered the set lunch menu.
The starter, a sweet potato soup was delicious, followed by a delicious potato salad with salmon roe, however when the main course of duck leg arrived, all of us were immediately put off our meals by the plating and the use of chicken liver mousse that resembles something rather unappetising. We reflected this with the GM of course. On top of that, the back of house kitchen staff were extremely loud, the kitchen door was left open quite often and we could hear them swear and tell throughout the meal. Also, water is self service.
Perhaps the restaurant isn't fully ready for a hard launch yet as it's at the new Dorsett. There is definitely room for improvement.
