Date of visit : 22 Aug 2013 (Thu) 1:15 pmNo. of diners : 2Average cost per head : $100Food quality : 7.3/10Environment : 8/10Service : 7/10Value-for-money : 8/10Overall rating : 7.5/10This was my second visit to the café which is located at one of the industrial buildings in Siu Sai Wan (a 10 minutes’ walk from the Chai Wan MTR station). On a sunny day, the view from the windows gives a clear visibility of the loading bay facing the building. Chaiwanese is one of the few decent and yet casual cafés in the area where they serve from breakfast to dinner at reasonable price.It’s in fact more like a cafeteria where diners have to get their cutlery and food from the bar area. The food served here are generally mild in seasoning thus a tad of salt and pepper is required for most of the dishes.a) Carrot & Ginger Soup (Lunch set) – 7.5/10With natural sweetness from carrots and grinds of ginger were definitely a nutritious and soothing soup. However, a splash of extra virgin oil would enhance the flavour further. One thing that made me puzzled was the use of paper cup instead of a proper soup bowl.b) French Bread ($20) – 5/10Bread was only served with salad, being curious to try the baguette from Bread Elements whose factory was also located in Chai Wan, I paid an additional twenty bucks for the five pieces of bread. To my disappointment, the texture was too dense, just like the required amount of yeast was not used.c) Angel Hair with Clams & Capsicums in Tomato Sauce ($80 for set) – 7.5/10The bowl of pasta was appealing with it’s mixed colours and clams on top. However, sand was found in some of the clams. The angel hair could have been cooked for half minute less.d) Linguine with Chicken & Zucchinis in Cream Sauce ($78 for set) – 7.5/10The chicken fillet was a bit tough due to overcooked, apart from zucchini, eggplant was added. The linguine was al dante though.e) Mocha (lunch set) – 7.5/10Nice latte art, chocolate flavour dominated in the drink.f) Orange Cake ($42) – 7/10A similar cake prepared by Mansons Lot was much better than this one. Uneven reheat process made the surface warm only but with a cold inner part. Lack of egg flavour too.Q : When will I go again?A : For afternoon tea if I work around. The have a tea set which is quite an attractive deal.Q: What will I next order?A : May check out their dinner which is quite different from the lunch menu.09.2013

After a few searching in Openrice, finally come up with this restaurant - Chai Wan-ese,a restaurant that my friends have been recommending me to try. So here I was, with my aunt, and a " full preparation " the night before haha. This is a self-served restaurant, with water provided. The location of it is not really hard to find, with a comfy and home-liked interior, which I was so surprised. I thought this place would be like so "Chinese" and stuff. There were 6 staffs in total (where they were all working inside the "open kitchen" and I was like " what?!, here wasnt that much people. Just come out and like at least ask if we want some water or stuff. Dont stand there (cause some of them were standing and doing nothing...) Anyway, we ordered.. 1) Big breakfast $90 Frankly speaking, if it's located here, it doesn't worth $90, they should really lower the price if they want their customers to come back again. However, if only considering the food, it does worth $90. I mean, the quality, the size of it can really be compared with those out there in Central or Causeway bay...etc. where the price is pretty much the same. So, it has scrambled egg (huge one), sauage, bacon, salad (really fresh one), mushroom, there are actually two pieces of bread inside, it was just covered haha plus baked beans in tomato sauce! It really was a super large breakfast for a girl lol 2) Omelette with Croissant $65?$85 (Don't really remember) From my aunt's opinion, she said, the same thing with me, they should really lower a little bit the price in order to attract their customers and come back again. Since the location of the place really doesn't worth spending couple of bucks here. Plus, this one, from what she said, " well, nothing special, if compare with those in Causeway or simply, cafe. In both location and food aspect, it doesn't worth $65/$85" It's just a omelette with a croissant aside. Overall speaking, the food quality is great. Surrounding is great, relaxing. However, the price, hmmm it really depends, for us, it should be lowered a bit in order to attract more. If they dont want their customers to have the thought that, "Well, food is great, but one time will be fine", they should do something!

柴灣，相信予人印象：偏遠、人迹罕至、工廠區或是祭拜時節之地。自小於柴灣成長的我，覺得可能此區偏僻的關係，眼見其它區常見的店舖，在柴灣總找不到，因此，時常渴望能有别區相同類型的店舖出現；轉眼十多年，柴灣已漸漸繁盛起來，從沒有麥當勞到有，以至近年新增的咖啡連鎖店，雖有大品牌進註此區，但已不能滿足認真喜愛咖啡的我…💝 今天，您的出現、您的存在實在令我欣喜若狂 ~ 終於讓我遇上您了 ！柴灣人！簡約裝潢，主要採用木、石物料，牆身掛上有趣風格獨特的畫像，座位有三十多個，空間寬敞，最抓緊視線的非眺望海景的大窗戶莫屬，在碧海藍天及輕音樂的襯托下用餐，別具悠閒情調。６時前美食有大小杯選擇的是日餐湯，6、7款即製特式三明治及大大份新鮮沙律，每日午餐、星期六、日及假日均設有特別餐單，選擇甚豐。上圖：大蘑菇車打芝士黑麥包配橘醃洋蔥 - 大大片蘑菇配上溶化的車打芝士，加上惹味醃製洋蔥，被烘烤得脆暖的麥包包着，入口香濃美味 下圖：柑橘三文魚忌廉芝士比高包 - 柑香三文魚伴上忌廉芝士再配上新鮮蔬菜，沒有油膩感，清新健康 上圖：全日早餐 - 炒蛋蘑菇烟肉意式香腸茄汁豆伴法包，份量十足 ！中圖：芝士蘑菇奄烈配牛角包 - 熔化的芝士與蘑菇緊扣着，被半熟炒蛋包圍起來，加上外脆內鬆軟的牛角包，大滿足！ 女士們想吃又怕份量太多吃不完？放心，可選擇中午12時前或3時-6時提供的輕盈套餐 - Cappuccino set，HKD55自選意式咖啡配上每日新鮮運到的包點(牛角包、提子丹麥酥等)或迷你蛋糕，輕食一樂也。💗 右上圖：芝麻綠茶紅豆芝士蛋糕 - 白色軟綿綿的忌廉芝士夾着芝麻啫喱，再加上少量紅豆配上綠茶蛋糕，味道互相配合，清甜不膩。💝Flat white - 澳洲式白咖啡，份量比Cappuccino和Latte少，味稍濃厚身，奶泡打得細滑。💗 右下圖：提子丹麥酥 - 口感較為實淨的酥餅，表面掃上薄薄的糠漿再加上玉桂，跟提子合桃散發着淡淡甜甜的香氣。💝Cappuccino - 奶泡略為厚身，味稍淡薄身，after taste帶有焦糖味。💗 左上圖：柑橘甘筍芝士蛋糕 - 微酸甘甜，減低芝士膩胃感。💝Latte - 奶泡均勻，味道平均，保持水準之作。💗 左下圖：伏特加朱古力慕絲蛋糕 - 帶點酒氣的mini cake，中心有一顆伏特加酒車厘子，可能配料比例的關係，伏特加酒味並不明顯，朱古力味道較為突出，味道不會太甜。💝Cortado - 份量比Flat white還少，帶黑朱古力咖啡香味，味濃厚身甘香，奶泡細滑均勻。*告爾多咖啡（cortado coffee）是一種西班牙傳統飲料，由三分之二濃縮咖啡espresso加上三分之一的熱牛奶。有些地方會用煉乳或者奶油代替牛奶。 如題，說到精品，咖啡一定不能少，店內提供不同地區及各品牌烘焙的咖啡豆及單品咖啡、冰滴咖啡，意式咖啡有Cortado、Flat White、Latte、Cappuccino、Macho等，其他選擇有鮮奶茶及特色飲品。店內另一特色，善用了廠廈略大的空間，設立售買咖啡豆及各式用品，友善的咖啡師非常樂意提供及分享咖啡資訊，是咖啡店罕見的特設交流專區，對咖啡的熱誠，可見一班。💖 好喜歡喝着好喝的、喜愛的咖啡看着書，做個愜意柴灣人💖

其實我黎左呢到2次, 第1次係黎試佢新開始有既brunch,第2次係前幾日facebook知道佢有晚市所以黎試下佢好唔好食, 好食既話, 搵佢做飯堂都唔錯...我唔想同一間餐廳寫2次, 所以請容許我寫summarize 2次既經驗:1) brunch, 朋友一再介紹呢到既all day breakfast, 喜見屋企附近終於有cafe 唔需要出到去tst, cwb先有brunch食, 見佢既all day breakfast 材料一d都唔吸引, 所以叫左個parma ham benedict,呢個benedict, 個sauce 唔差, 但係我食過咁多次parma ham, 呢到既parma ham 好"騷", 如果同我另一篇食評比,呢間既係騷好多!! 同時佢有coffee tasting, 我都有去試咖啡 免費的~好飲2) 晚餐 見佢facebook話開始有dinner, 地方咁舒服,如果d野食ok, 可以冇飯開時過去~我見勄fb 都係以臘肉漢堡為主題咁, 我就去叫黎試下: 薯皮熱就熱, 但係唔脆, 林到咁, 點食? 唉....我食個burger, 點降有d野係口咬唔開既呢? 朋友話,臘肉好難咬架所以咪咁.. 點知我愈食愈唔對勁...d 肉味好怪, 一打開個burger.....裡面係未熟既(如圖)....再回想起佢冇問我burger幾成熟..即係唔係100%牛肉啦..再細問, 佢係牛用同豬整成... 豬肉大家都知係要100%熟先可以食..所以我就冇再食, 仲拎比職員呢到好多工作人員,但係self service, 自己去counter 買野, 自己拎野食, 自己拎水...我拎左碟野埋去counter, 同工作人員講你地比客人食既野, 需要make sure佢係熟, 呢個我真係生到食唔到! 佢地都offer 煮多一塊hamberger 比我, 但係我拒絕左,岩岩食完塊生既,你比多塊我, 就算係熟既我都真係食唔落..之後佢地送左1/2塊cheese cake比我。我會建議大家可以黎試coffee, 佢手沖coffe, 同埋drip coffee 好多好多唔同既choices比你去選,食d已整好既cake/bread, 即場煮既野, 2次之後既經驗話我知真係可免則免

Brunch 無疑是一個休閒星期6的最好選擇. 有大概3個月沒有來chaiwanese 吃lunch了今次來發現原來weekend 沒有pasta set了, weekend 換了brunch menubrunch menu 的brunch set 雖然名字叫set, 但其實是沒飲品的.我朋友2位都選了big breakfast, $90 (圖片中中間和最遠那份)我試了他們的big breakfast, 好食!個人覺得他們的炒蛋幾好味, 肉腸好正!!不過減肥中的我就不吃這樣大份的big breakfast 了, 食了parma ham baguette 好好味! baguette入面有mayonnaise 醬, 加埋parma ham = 正!仲有附有salad, 喜歡他們家落的醋! 咖啡-mocha. 今次有小小失準, 不知道是不是因為當天很多人的關係. 下次來都是叫返我的最愛, hazelnut latte 不過每次看到拉花都覺得杯咖啡是有心機整的 ^^雖然在工廠區一個brunch around $100 per person 有點比同區多, 但是有海景而又relaxing 的一個地方, 我還是會再來的!
