Watersports class cancelled due to red flag, bummer. Why do the sharks have to visit HK coastline at this time? Why this time of all times . Someone recommended this newly opened restaurant yesterday. So here I am. All organic, and vegetarian. Environment:It is tucked away at the end of a no through road. It is easy to miss. Environment:
It is tucked away at the end of a no through road. It is easy to miss. The sign board is very small and not very brightly coloured. There is small deck outside the resto, for growing some herbs and peppers. On sunny days there are some seats outdoors. The ground level has around 10 seats. Upper level is a function room for parties. There is a nicely decorated long table. And a one cubicle bathroom.
Food:
There is one special lunch deal every day I suppose. Today's was a veggie burger with cilantro avocado mayo and a grilled sweet corn salad. $95 for a mains and a coffee.
Veggie burger with avocado cilantro mayo, sweet corn salsa +coffee/tea $95 Was happy when the plate arrived. It looked extremely healthy. The veggie patty reminded me of something I saw in the kitchen every morning - whatever fibre is left from juicing a carrot! Confirmed it to be exactly that, mixed with brown rice and some spices. The avocado mayo was a healthy alternative to the traditional mayonnaise. The patty itself was quite salty. It wouldve been alright if the patty came on buns, but this one came on a small piece of pita bread. The corn salsa wasn't much of a salsa in that it consisted of lettuce and grilled corn. There was a minimal amount of dressing, if any at all, but you could taste the sweetness and juiciness of corn.
Mixed Mushroom Linguine. White Truffle Oil and aspsragus $168 It smelled amazing. Hot, creamy, with a sprinkling of white truffle oil which further accentuated the fragrant smell which I love. Mixed mushrooms included shiitake, portabello, probably oyster mushrooms too. In any event, they were delicious, and there was a lot, considering the size of the dish. The only complaint is the overcooked pasta. Could've been more al dente. Otherwise, the seasoning was great, not too salty, and did not overpower the wonderful mushroom tatse. Asparagus went very well with the mushrooms, offering a bit of crunch and texture. It was also very sweet, and juicy. A juicy asparagus - where'd you find that?
Hot Cappuccino
Came with muscavado sugar? Tasted normal, but could be hotter. A hot coffee is always better than a lukewarm one.
Conclusion:
Pretty nice restaurant but I can't afford to make this a regular dining place, literally! But I wouldn't question the environmental friendliness, health benefits and the organic goodness of the food offered. Do try if you happen to be nearby.
題外話/補充資料:
Some PR from Vero Chocolates came in just when we were about to leave. Asked if Grassroots would like to put hot chocolate on the drinks menu. 'We only use 100% cacao fair trade coffee' was the reply. Encouraging that they stick to their principles! :)
