I have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time due to my love for noodles and tomatoes. The feedback for this restaurant was also very positive and it became very popular very quickly, so finally found time to come to Causeway Bay and eat this for lunch. They also have one store in Kowloon Tong which is closer to me but less popular, however, I will try it someday.


We arrived at 12:15 and we are very lucky as there was only 1 two-seater table left 😬. I read that there is always a line for this restaurant so I do recommend coming here right when they open to avoid the queue. When we left at 1:15, there was already a really long queue 😬.


The restaurant size is very. Very small. With only 6 two-seater tables, 1 four-seater table and 3 bar stools. The two-seater table is extremely small and compact. If you are coming with more than 2 people, it will be very hard to get seats 😂.


I order their Signature Tomato Soup (自家鮮茄濃湯底) with Roasted Chicken Thigh (炭烤風味雞扒), changed to arrowroot noodles (葛絲) +$5 and added Assorted Wild Mushrooms (野生雜菌) +$18.

This soup was very complex but the main thoughts I have are on the taste and the texture.


This taste is absolutely delicious. The freshness of the tomato is prominent throughout the whole dish, lightly supported by fresh herbs. Not salty or overly flavored at all so you can drink bowls of it and never get tired. It is not as rich and smooth as tomato bisque as it still has mini chunks of tomatoes 😋.


They really earned their reputation with this soup as it is just so fresh and flavorful. Every single person there also drank their bowls clean 🤣.


The texture was very thick and creamy. The first sip I had, I already wanted more. However, my soup was very non-existant after I untangled the noodles and I believe this is because I ordered Arrowroot noodles (葛絲) which is very absorbent 😅 and it absorbed all the liquid. Nonetheless the noodle-soup became like 撈麵 (Lo Mein) and it was still delicious as the ‘soup’ acted as a sauce and the noodle stuck to it very well, but I won’t advise you to order Arrowroot noodles if you like drinking your soup and not having it as a thick sauce.


The volume of soup definitely needs to increase for the Arrowroot noodles (which the restaurant should take notice of) but all my noodles, chicken and toppings were covered in the sauce so I still left satisfied 😄.



My mother ordered their Knife Cut Noodles (刀削麵) and her soup was much more wet and soup-like. However, she said the noodles were a bit undercooked 🤨.


The standard toppings for the noodle was fried shallots, scallions and a basil leaf. The fried shallots added a unique crispy texture and smokiness to the soup and noodles, making you remember the bites which you ate them as they are quite strong. Having said that, there is also a lot of shallot skin in my soup as well 🙂, don’t know if it was intentional or not but I had to pick them out myself.


The basil leaf was a really good detail to add. I used it as a wrapper and wrapped a piece of chicken and mushroom in it, then covered it in soup and that was a magnificent bite. The freshness of the basil is so strong and pungent. Making this a bit more Italian 😅.

🐔 炭烤風味雞扒 $62


Wow. 😍 This chicken is utterly tender and flavorful. Highly recommend.


The cut they used is chicken thigh so naturally, the meat would be more tender and fattier. They said it is Charcoal Grilled and you could definitely tell because the skin is crispy on top and charred beautifully.


The skin was super savory and crispy, but I mixed it with my noodles into the ‘soup’ and it got a bite soggy and the tomato flavor replaced the crispiness 😂.


I easily pulled the chicken apart with my chopsticks and you can see each individual protein strand which means it is super juicy and moist. The meat was sadly quite thin albeit tender. But the flavor of the chicken was just. 😍😍. Very strong chicken flavor supported by the char and seasoning. Due to my ‘soup’ becoming a sauce, I covered my chicken pieces in the tomato sauce and it was a unprecedented combination.


I could tell the chicken was taken out of heat right when it cooked and not a second too late as some pieces had a faint pink to it, but I’m not complaining as they were all tender. Even though chicken thigh does not easily get tough and dry like chicken breast.


There is 5 pieces of chicken thigh in total, the end pieces had plumper meat too which was great. The portion was fitting for the amount of noodles and soup.

🥢 葛絲 +$5


I added 5 to change to Arrowroot noodles because I love all cellophane noodles. However, the main reason I love them is because of the chewy and springy texture they have. This bowl of noodles was sadly not chewy at all. It was still springy but very easily bitten off, so not much chewing was required. Use this as guidance depending on the noodle you’re looking for 😊.


The noodles were as I’ve said very absorbent, this meant they stuck to the soup very well and made it into spaghetti consistency 😂😅. They also hung on to the sauce very well without slipping off which is impressive.


The amount of noodles was mind blowing. Definitely worth the money and was very full when I left.

🍄 野生雜菌 +$18


I also added $18 to get some Assorted Wild Mushrooms and it was super worth it if you are a mushroom enthusiast like me or simply looking for more textures and toppings for your noodles. The tomato flavor and mushrooms really compliment each other.


There are chanterelle, black trumpet, hen of the woods (maitake) and different kinds of shimeji mushrooms. Some are big and some are small but all equally flavorful.


Eating the big ones on its own is magnificent and eating the small ones with the noodles offered another texture to each bite which made the experience even better.


They also give you a big bundle of mushrooms which will last you throughout the whole bowl.

💬 Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and the foods I ate today. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The noodles were delicious and the soup was sublime. The only tiny problem was that there was not enough soup for my super absorbent noodles 😞, but that opened a pathway to delicious pasta-like noodles.
