Coming from a South East Asian country myself, I went in having pretty high expectation of the place. Honestly, the restaurant did not disappoint at all. We love the ambience of the restaurant, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was very clean and the food was amazing! Even with the tea sets, the portion of the meal was great and the prices were affordable. We ordered their: 1. 1. Thai Green Curry (Chicken) with Steamed Rice
This was a definite hit, the grilled chicken and eggplants were so good. I believe it was cooked separately which added a nice touch to the dish. The curry was creamy and I really liked that it was spicy as well which is pretty rare to find in HK. For an extra HKD 22, we added another side dish to the meal which was their Ipoh beansprout with sambal sauce. For every meal we ordered, we could either choose to order their complimentary regular drink but decided to try one of their special drink which was the hot coffee tarik. This was really good, creamy, rich and not overly sweet (though, I did order less sweet!)
2. Malay Seafood Laksa
We wanted to order one of their laksa meal and decided to try their seafood option. The portion was great and they were generous with the seafood they gave. All of it were really fresh. I love their laksa soup base, which had a really nice coconut santan base! I liked that they used both meehoon and yellow mee in the laksa who is what we usually get at home in Malaysia. We call that ‘kahwin’. For this meal, we ordered their regular iced healthy barley drink which was nice and refreshing!
3. Ba Kut Teh Soup with Steamed Rice
This was my all time favourite! It’s so hard to get authentic bakuteh soup in HK and am so glad to have tried this here. The soup was rich and earthy. It’s a must try! The ingredients were fresh and I really liked that they added you tiao to this dish. We paired this dish with regular iced lemon tea. Super good and would definitely recommend this to BKT lovers!
