This area of Tseung Kwan O has developed quite quickly in recent months with various nice looking eateries. As the other restaurants were very very busy, this one called Hoofman House wasn't so. It had diners but no one was lining up to eat. Good enough for us!The place looked more like a cafe. But the menu was clearly cha chan teng classics with a twist. Menu is in English and Chinese. The place looked more like a cafe. But the menu was clearly cha chan teng classics with a twist. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. As it was dinner time, they only provided us with a dinner set menu. Drinks weren't included but they were half price.
They also had the daily dinner sets. These sets came with a drink. This was also in Chinese only. There was no English.
We went with the cheaper option and ordered from the daily dinner sets as we did want a drink. The ice lemon tea wasn't really that good anyways.
Boyfriend ordered the Braised Eggplant with Pork with Rice ($68). It may not look appetizing, but it was actually quite good though extremely spicy. The eggplant soaked up all the sauce. Portion wasn't too big though.
I had the XO Stir Fried Beef Udon ($68). Not too spicy but very flavorful. The beef was tender and soft. Not too oily as well.
Food was better than it looked. Price a bit much and portion size wasn't very big. I did see a lot of people ordering ice cream to go. We didn't see it on the menu so we might try it next time as we're curious why every one opted for that instead of the food.
