First of all, let me remind all of you that it is hard to get a table at lunch here during the weekdays without calling in to make a reservation at least 2 days ahead of time. The sandwich was a pleasant surprise. The steak was seared to perfection and was succulent and juicy without being undercooked. It was paired with a fluffy white bun with a soft crust. The dish also came with my favourite type of fries – shoe-string fries!! Crispy, fresh thin slices of fries…mmmmmm

Rather than eating the fish together with the batter, my dining partner had a strange way of eating this dish whereby he would remove most of the batter and eat the fish fillet on its own. I’m glad he did so because I got to taste the freshness of cod fish without being distracted by the batter. Nevertheless, the batter was crisp and was not swimming in a pool of oil.

This option was originally not on the set menu but was later added as one of the options had been sold out. Hangar steaks are sometimes unpopular due to their relatively stringier texture in comparison to sirloin/ribeye steaks. However, if it is prepared and cooked in the right now, it is comparable to more expensive cuts of beef and this was what was successfully done here. The steak was slightly pink in the middle without it being bloody, its juice giving it a rich flavour.

This is a perfect place to come to if you are looking for a casual lunch at a comfortable place away from the hustle and bustle of Taikoo Place. Being part of the Pressroom Group, their quality of food mirrors the type of standards they have in their other successful restaurants. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something different from the local eats around the area!
