I was looking forward to a nice Christmas dinner.....and I still am, even after visiting Trafalgar.A table for six, sitting outside seemed to cause a logistics problem....and I am sure that they have had groups of six before. However, eventually, our table appeared. Our dinner included 2 hours of drinks, which were rose and white wine and four or five spirits. However, they were out of rose so we were offered Chilean or Australian red. My wife wanted some camomile tea which, again, they were out

Our dinner included 2 hours of drinks, which were rose and white wine and four or five spirits. However, they were out of rose so we were offered Chilean or Australian red. My wife wanted some camomile tea which, again, they were out of.
The staff were all over the place throughout the meal....it was just a shame that the 'place' wasn't at our table.
Prawn Cocktail was one of the worst I have ever had. Three prawns over the side of a glass with some tomato sauce and some very dead lettuce and two pieces of cooked carrots. I think Little Chef in the UK make a better one. The soup was passable.
Two steaks and two turkey and ham dinners.
The steaks were burnt on the outside, literally, and red on the inside. Not good and the cuts were pretty mediocre.
The turkey was slightly dry but was plentiful. I am not sure if they were cutting back on the ham, or running out of it maybe as there was one very small piece of ham buried under the turkey. However, there was enough food on the plate to satiate my hunger.
My son ordered some chicken lollipops that, erm, didn't arrive.
Chased those up and they arrived just as everyone finished their main courses. Upon request, these were not charged on the bill.
The dessert menu had to be chased and then ordering took even longer. Two cheese, one pudding and one trifle. The cheese came first, and was small to say the least. The pudding came next and was duly set on fire. Probably the best presented dish of the night. Finally, after chasing it, the trifle came. All portions were small.
The meal was booked and paid for through groupon, so it was about $50 less per head.....
.....but, we still paid about $100 too much per person.
Overall, I won't be going back for any reason and whilst we left with full bellies, it was not a good dining experience and certainly not the Christmas dinner I was looking forward to.
For a beer? In the summer? On the terrace? Maybe.
Anything else? No.
