With a name like Fridge I imagined some place with an icy cool atmosphere or perhaps a furturistic bar furnished with stainless steel, quite contrarily, my friend led me to a cozy little restaurant tucked away in a snug spot on Peel Street. Fridge resonates a warmth in its atmosphere, service, and food.French Bouchot Mussels ($228)These little mussels were dense and meaty, and the white wine cream sauce was so good we ended up finishing two baskets of bread! These little mussels were dense and meaty, and the white wine cream sauce was so good we ended up finishing two baskets of bread! The portion is also quite generous, even for a group of three.
The salad was dresed in a honey-sweetened sauce and drizzled over with reduced balasamic vinegar, which was more sweet than tart. The scallops were well-executed, cooked till just done. Yum!
Done medium rare, the centre was juicy and still seeping with meaty juices; the outside was seared and crusted lightly with pepper and rosemary. Only good things to say about this.
One of the best dishes in Fridge in the opinion of all of us that night! The pork was tender, juicy and succulent, and likely brushed with some honey after searing that gave it an extra hint of sweetness. The blue cheese crust was surprisingly mild and complemented the meat well. The portion was also quite large, we were all simply too stuffed after to even try dessert!
Cosy small group gatherings with friends
題外話/補充資料:
My friend noted that the last time she went it was just a small place that held up to 10 people. They've expanded to near doors since, and will probably look a little different again in the next couple of months.
