Recently on several social media pages, I've seen photos of coffee with pretty printed art work on it. Called ASK Cafe, I wanted to give it a try. Boyfriend and I went in search of it and found it was located in Sheung Wan. In a building that I've not ever been in before.It was a nice spacious area with lots of flowers decorated all over.Menu is in English and Chinese. They offer various cafe style food. We shared a Snack Platter ($85) which had fries, honey chicken wings and creamy crab croquettes. Mayo and ketchup was provided for dipping. The best was the chicken wings. Sweet and juicy, we detected a bit of lemongrass flavour as well. The crab croquettes were placed to look like hearts. They were very crispy and so creamy inside.
We also shared a Cake of the Day ($48) and chose something that was seasonal. This was the Strawberry Napolean. Something that isn't too common as usually we see regular Napolean or Mango. This was very good. The cream was rich and fluffy. The strawberry taste was so strong. The pastry was crisp and held together well.
But we had come here for the drinks with art work. All coffee and chocolate drinks will include a drawing of your choice. You just need to ask for it and there is no extra charge. The only drinks that is not available is the creme brulee cappuccino, affogato and marshmallow chocolate. You can choose any drawing except Sanrio or have them choose one for you. If you do select your own drawing, you upload it to them by Air Drop if using iPHone or Bluetooth if using Android.
I chose a Latte ($24) and this is my chosen drawing. It came out pretty good! The drawing was clear looked just like the one I sent them. The coffee was nice. Not too strong but smooth.
Boyfriend had a Bailey's Chocolate ($24) and his chosen drawing was a bit more detailed. We were wondering if it would come out well and it did. The chocolate was rich and chocolatey with hint of Bailey's.
The food was actually nicely presented and tasted good. The coffee art was done well and I liked that they didn't use the color ink like so many other places. I always felt a bit uneasy drinking food coloring. So, this felt more natural. A nice little hidden place that isn't too busy with reasonable prices so we'll probably be back.
