Hidden behind the stalls of the Ladies' Market in Mong Kok, on the eastern side of the southern-most stretch, is Peach Garden, an affordable Hong Kong-style western restaurant. The decor is a little random, leaning towards an American theme but not quite hitting it, but it's not unpleasant. The staff were a little brusque, as cam be typical in Hong Kong restaurants, but still attentive and helpful. We sat in a comfy booth, and although it's not a bit restaurant, it didn't feel crowded.I
I had salmon and mushroom cheese baked rice, a staple, and my partner had sizzling fish with shrimp, plus we sampled a couple of the slightly unusually-flavoured cider choices on offer. My salmon was well-seasoned, and it had been baked well to give a slightly crispy top while not drying out the rice inside, and it was a generous portion. The Swedish älska cider was a surprising find - the berry flavour was sweet and very easy to drink, and the lemon/ginger was sharp and refreshing. We finished off with a decadent chocolate ice cream waffle plate to share which definitely left us with a sweet taste.
I have to mention the background music, which somehow managed to be almost exactly to my taste, and at just the right volume to be heard without overpowering conversation - a small point, but a welcome one!
