Doing a weekend art walk, we decided to rest our feet at Hjem as the photo of the cinnmon roll caused me to pause. The place is spacious but not too many seats. They do have a few outside. Menu is in English and Swedish as it's a Swedish cafe. There is no 10% service charge. You order and pay at the counter where they'll bring the food to you. I ordered a latte ($45) because hey ... keep it simple. And it was just that. A rather strong brew with a simple latte art on top. Not too much milk to water it down.
Boyfriend had the Ice Mocha ($50). This was extremely chocolatey. Not too sweet but a rich chocolate taste.
Kardemomme and Kanelbolle ($48) is the thing that brought me here. Cardamon Cinnamon roll. And it was delicious. It was warm. The dough soft and pullable. Enough cinnamon to make me smile. Not the sticky sweet ones like the American version. But these were just as good. The hint of cardamon complimented the cinnamon. This was a really good roll.
We also shared a Pytt-I-Panna ($138). Otherwise known as a Nordic Hash. Small fingerling potatoes with kale, bacon, pork belly, red onions, a fried egg and creme fraiche on the side along with some caraway seeds and dill. It looked pretty but fairly disappointing. The potatoes weren't seasoned and not fried enough. The bacon needed to crisp up a bit more. Everything was fairly underwhelming. At least it looked pretty.
The cinnamon roll is the thing to get. Coffee was decent and service was very friendly. I'd be back but I'd stay away from the hash.
