燉奶 - There are four taste of 燉奶 , and you choose 3 out of 4. there are red bean, almond, sesame and pumpkin. I chose Red bean, sesame and almond. It came in 3 miniature size bowls.
first was the red bean flavour. It was just a soon of red bean paste on top of the milk pudding. But it was a good contrast of the milk pudding and the sweet red bean paste. The milk pudding is silky and smooth and very rich in japanese milk taste.
Second was the almond flavour. Instead of a spoon of almond on top, it was actually a layer of almond liquid on top. this was probably least nice out of the three. the almond taste was too strong and covered the japanese milk taste of the milk pudding.Third was the sesame paste: This was also a spoon of sesame paste on top of the milk pudding. I loved this flavour the most. As sesame paste is least sweet and it isnt that strong of taste. so you can taste the sesame but at same time the milk flavour is still strong.
Overall the milk pudding is nice. but I wuld not pick this again. i have tasted better Milk puddings, and having 3 flavours of milk pudding is too much going on. Milk pudding on its own should be enough if it was made good.
Conclusion: I love this place. Both the exterior and interior is well designed. The exterior really remind you of those japanese restaurants you see in cartoons. You can be seated at the tatami if you wanted to. but i did not. there are 3 tables by tatami, and from what i saw, you will need to take off your shoes to sit on the tatami. it is wooden tables and wooden pillars inside. it is failrly cosy and looks bigger than it is by a wall of mirrors. service was good. The lady was polite and even recommended us when one of the dessert I try order has sold out. I would definately come again and try other stuff. i would definately recommend people come here eariier as when i came so late, the popular stuff has already been sold out.
