A not-so-expected Me time happened and I found this restaurant nearby. In order to try everything as much as possible, I bought the afternoon-tea-set of Hainan Chicken soup with rice vermicelli, Braised Pork Knuckles and Fried Chicken Thigh with Fried Potato, apart from drinks.The portions might be small but considering afternoon-tea-set, the portions were expected to be small.The Hainan Chicken is tender but not quite seasoned even with the ginger scallion sauce. The Hainan Chicken is tender but not quite seasoned even with the ginger scallion sauce. The soup, however, is really salty / savoury. To those who love food rich in flavour and seasoning, it is a good soup base for rice vermicelli. Otherwise, please be reminded to prepare hot water to dilute the soup base.
The Braised Pork Knuckles were worth trying. Soft, although not so soft that it could melt in your mouth. The braising sauce is not overwhelming. The side sour spicy sauce could carry more kicks. Overall, it's porky and perhaps more could be expected in terms of texture and flavour.
The Fried Chicken Thigh and Fried Potato is ok if you are looking for a traditional Cantonese afternoon-tea-set. But again, the seasoning could be more. As compared to the Hainan Chicken soup base, it is not so "chickeny" and not so appetizing either.
But the final verdict is the food was satisfactory taking into consideration the location and the time of ordering.
