Artista Perfetto is a coffee shop that was recommended to me by a coworker who just loves coffee. Run by six baristas from Hong Kong where one even won the world latte championship in 2014, they moved to Taipei to open a cafe near the Shongshan Cultural Park. For whatever reason (maybe homesickness?), they have decided to open a branch in Hong Kong. Yes, you heard me. A Taipei coffee shop, run by Hong Kongers now opening a coffee shop in Hong Kong. My coworker informed me of this opening and I w
Located in a side street near the South Pacific Hotel in Causeway Bay, is this small coffee shop. Even though it was new and a weekday, it was pretty popular. I guess coffee fans also heard of it's opening and came to give it a try.
They have your basic coffee styles along with magic and 1+1 which I don't see often in other shops. Unlike their coffee shop in Taipei, this one does not offer hot meals like pasta, etc. However, they do offer a salty egg yolk pastry. I wasn't here for a pastry as I only wanted a coffee and that is what I ordered.
Choosing the latte ($38) as that is what I always order when first trying out a place, I found myself a little chair and waited. The barista was friendly and informed me what today's beans were.
The latte art was beautiful and intricate. The coffee was aromatic and had a hint of nuttiness. The barista said the beans had a hint of jasmine. I honestly didn't detect it. The milk to espresso ratio was good. The temperature was perfect as well. What I did find was that this was the creamiest latte I've ever had. It was so creamy, the drink went down like smooth butter. Lovely.
Will definitely be back and perhaps try a pastry next time and another type of coffee. Love that this place is located in Causeway Bay so it's close to where I live! Finally some decent coffee in the area and a welcome addition to the independent third wave coffee shop scene.
