Finally paid a visit to 22ship , thanks to the emi Wong x j senses collab! Had an amazing feast of Spanish 🇪🇸 tapas, RUBIA steak 🥩, paella🥘 and basque burnt cheesecake 🍰 and the manager even offered us dessert wine🍷 for a perfect finishing touch😍Starting first off with their 🥘Carabineros paella (HKD 468). We were told to mix it with the rice, which just took it to the next level! That sweet briny flavour of fresh seafood was a real winner in combination with the bold hearty aroma of the rice! The carabineros 🦐 themselves were super soft and tender, almost reminded of Japanese amaebi!
Finally tried 🥩 RUBIA beef! We went for the small portion, 90-day dry aged (HKD 548) and requested medium rare.
It had a richer, beefier flavour than average steaks, as well as a slightly funky scent, which was particularly noticeable along the outer rim of the steak. Definitely Really enjoyed its tender, buttery texture as well, an utterly different experience from Japanese wagyu, yet just as as incredible!
🐙Canary Grill Octopus
💭Perfectly cooked, with a delightful smokey aroma and a slightly crispy edge from the grill. My favourite sauce was the green one which was a combination of coriander and a bunch of other herbs 🌿 The pale yellow sauce was sort of a light a cheese foam, which was quite interesting as well 🧀
🐟Nectarine & anchovie HKD 108
I have never pictured pairing nectarine with anchovie until I saw this dish! Two ingredients that cannot be more different, yet worked wonders together, making up for each other’s shortcomings, a perfect harmony of sweet and savoury! 👍🏻
🥓Chorizo croquettes HKD 98
Their croquettes were delicious was well, just looks t how plump and round they are! The outer layer was super thin and the smooth creamy filling inside was just bursting with flavours from the chorizos!😍
🍳Tortilla fava sobrasada HKD 148
The Spanish omelette truly blew me away. Those thin slices of eggs and potatoes worked wonders together, the texture was so coherent and satisfying, and the cheese sauce and diced chorizos just took it up a notch in terms of flavour. This is way beyond ones I have had before where you could clearly distinguish the solid chunks of potatoes and over cooked egg layers👍🏻
🥦Cauliflower & truffle HKD 148
The cauliflower and truffle was a bit of a disappointment though, the truffle flavour was barely noticeable and the cauliflowers were quite bland. Nonetheless, the creamy mash underneath was super smooth and the candied hazelnuts made a nice sweet treat (though they didn’t quite go with the cauliflowers)
🍅Summer tomato salad HKD 108
The summer tomato salad was so refreshing, and included cherry tomatoes in all sort of colours. My favourites were the purple and orange ones😍 So juicy and sweet and the perfect palette cleanser!
🍰Burnt basque cheesecake HKD 98
💭I was not expecting them to serve up a whole circular cake at all! And of course, I was more than happy to just dig in😍 Best cheesecake I have had to date for sure, so creamy and smooth yet airy and fluffy at the same time, with a touch of caramel flavour from the beautifully browned top.
I also loved how the texture of the cake in a sort of gradient, with the centre being a little softer and creamier and the edges being a little firmer and reminiscent of Japanese soufflé cheesecake!
