This is our go-to restaurant after kid's activities in YMCA, so we go here every week. Staff are friendly (we are foreigners), food and drinks price are very reasonable.I think we ordered everything in the menu as we've been going here for a long time. And I also love the bamboo chopsticks and if I want softdrinks, I just take it from the fridge and tell them that I took some. The menu is written on the wall (in chinese). The menu is written on the wall (in chinese). As we can't read chinese, we use the english menu. When we order food, the waiter just shouts our order to the cook. No one writes anything. And when we pay, somehow, they remember what we consumed. Amazing! Very old-style and authentic and we love it!
We love:
Wonton with soup or noodle soup or noodle without soup - the wontons here are fresh, handmade, just the right amount of pork, the shrimp juicy. And the noodles' texture is tender and springy - cooked to perfection.
Pork dumplings with soup or noodle soup or noodle without soup - these pork dumplings are fresh, also handmade. The pork and cabbage very juicy!
Beef with soup or noodle soup or noodle without soup - beef slices are very tender!
Fishballs with soup or noodle soup or noodle without soup - the fishballs here are not those fishballs that we get in the supermarket. Here, they make their own fishballs - more minced fish or fish paste (I don't know how it's called), which is usually in a bowl, then the cook takes a few spoonfuls of the fish paste and drop it onto the boiling water to cook. Tastes really good!
Price starts at 25 HKD/bowl, bottled softdrinks at 8 HKD, a real bargain, and very authentic. I like the idea that the food I'm eating did not come from a factory somewhere. The food here is made with passion!
The restaurant looks like it's been the same for the past 50 years, and I just love the way it looks. I hope it remains the same.
