Midautum Festival is near and I really don't like mooncakes. Especially authentic ones. So, when I saw that Hello Kitty Le Petite Cafe sold special Autumn Moon Festival macarons, I couldn't resist getting them for myself.They came in a box of nine different flavors and design in a see through plastic box.The macarons were decorated with Hello Kitty holding lanterns, sitting on a mooncake or even on the moon. The macarons were decorated with Hello Kitty holding lanterns, sitting on a mooncake or even on the moon. Cute, huh? The flavors were : (top row left to right) earl gray, banana, caramel; (middle row left to right) raspberry, chocolate, vanilla; (bottom row left to right) cashew nut, coffee, pistachio.
Size of the macarons were HUGE! They were the same size as the palm of my hand!
Tastewise, they were overly sweet with no almond taste. Just sugar. Flavors were rather artificial especially raspberry and banana. Texture was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They looked perfect enough but didn't taste perfect. Out of all the flavors, I think the coffee was the best. Earl gray was not distinctive enough.Not great macarons. But they were cute.
