I have been an irregular but loyal customer at both Rakuen's since someone who used to work their took us to the CWB branch 2 years ago. My fiancee is Japanese and loves Okinawan food.

We booked a table for 5 as we wanted to introduce some friends who had never been.

After getting no service for 10 minutes we went to the bar to politely ask a waitress to come over, we were told they were busy and would come soon. We were at one end of the restaurant and staff never looked in our direction. The attitude of the staff was disconnected and distant.

5 minutes later we went to ask again and we're told someone would come back to table with me but halfway across the restaurant they went off to do something else.

The waiter was rude (sarcastic) and uninterested, even argumentative when we criticised the service. We asked to see the manager and he told us he was the manager! Wow! we complained very strongly but he was unaware that things were as bad as they were. some minutes later we noticed the table of 4 next to us complaining that had waited a long time for drinks to be served.

The food when it came was OK, the Okinawan dumplings were good but the tuna wasabi tuna was a little drenched in mayonnaise so not as much bite as it should have had.

Miso Cod was reasonable and a good portion too and the clams were a new dish we tried for the first time and were very fresh and tasty.

I've eaten at both Rakuen restaurants before and the food used to be better but it seems it has got too popular and service is poor and uncaring. The food does not seem to be presented with the same style and panache as it once was.

When a duplicated order of lotus root was delivered later we were told we had to take it because we ordered it! We actually argued this fairly strongly mostly because of the terrible way the manager handled it. The manager told us he took the order and he had seen our friend point to it and wrote it down. Only later did we remember that he did not start writing things down until half way through when he realised we were placing a large order.

Sadly after 2 years of coming to Rakuen we would now not go back again.
