I came across Lemon Exchange about a year or two ago. Its location is convenient, sandwiched right between Droplet and XTC, and right next to an old bookstore I frequent. Then came a time when it closed for a little while, and reopened with new furnishing -- walls in a different shade of avocado green, and catchy tiles reflecting fresh-spiritedness. It's what an in-store lemonade stand should look like indeed. The menu is full of items like burgers and lassies (Indian Yogurt based drink). I've h
It would be a shame not to try lemonades here. Over several visits, I've browsed through several options, always with a large size ($18 for regular, $21 for large). LEMONGRASS may be unseemly, but it's been all the rage for the past few years. Sliced lemongrass stalks were tossed into the blend with whole lemons (peeled) and whizz...You can request on the sugar level adjustment if you prefer it to be tarter than the standard. The flavour is fresh and clean but not as good as the GINGER lemonade, which gives off a tickling stimulation on the throat much like chilies in chocolate. The minor heat sensation is magnificent in winter, despite the drinks are all served ice cold. Note that INDIAN LEMONADE is actually lemongrass + ginger, LIME is literally a "greener" version of the original lemonade, but on one occasion it puckered my lips so much I thought it bit back with a life on its own!! Do try the MINT lemonade, as fresh mint leaves were put in the mix, yielding a herbal freshness somewhat resembling breath mints, but a lot tastier!
At the time of writing you can add an extra dollar for "potato wedges" (regularly sold for $18 per order). Served fried in hot oil it may just be the perfect snack for something so healthy like lemonades. There are other drinks offered here, and I can't doubt the quality of fresh fruit-based beverages, as you see them being prepared and customized on the spot. But for me, it's always the indispensable basics that matter the most...Lemonade it is.
