As the only burger place in Hong Kong that’s listed in Bloomberg’s World’s Best Burgers 2020, I paid a visit ytd! Situated in a tranquil corner in Wanchai, it’s a chic, comfy eatery reminiscent of the idyllic Greek islands!-Honbo 2.0The signature burger comprises 4x2 oz beef patty, triple cheese, pickles and onion. Though I reheated the burger at 140°C for 7 mins as I brought it from Wanchai to Taikoo, the heat didn’t dehydrate the beef at all! It’s still super juicy and retains its rich buttery

Though I reheated the burger at 140°C for 7 mins as I brought it from Wanchai to Taikoo, the heat didn’t dehydrate the beef at all! It’s still super juicy and retains its rich buttery and savoury aroma! What’s more, the overflowing triple cheese layers add so much flavour to the already hearty burger!

The Gold Standard
It’s loaded with double 4oz beef patty, double cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce and Thousand Island dressing. Curiously, though the ingredients are more or less the same as Honbo 2.0, with just a smaller portion of beef patty and cheese but additional bacons and lettuce, I found it less appetising. I guess I just want more beef and cheese!

After 6pm, sides and drinks are free! We had two fries, one topped with decadent melted cheese, another is made of sweet potato. Unfortunately, even when they’re already reheated in oven, they’re still not crunchy as I’d like them to be, maybe because they already got soggy beforehand. So my advice is better eat in when it’s hot and fresh!

Having watched Food, Inc recently, I’m more aware of food safety, and I feel reassured as the chef insists in using the best ingredients! The patties are made of Double Gold American beef imported from Wisconsin, while the potato milk bun is homemade by their artisan baker, and lastly the veggies are from the farms in Yuen Long! Haha it makes me feel less guilty about consuming so much calories in the evening 😬
