Back at the trusty Via Tokyo for a matcha dessert fix and to try out some of their seasonal menu items! There’s always a long queue outside so get here early to avoid the crowds! — This is a limited edition flavour that’s only served until 28/2, so of course I had to try it out! The ice cream incorporates sake kasu made from the famous “Heavenly Grains” rice of Fukushima and the result is a super fragrant sake flavour that isn’t too overpowering for the palate. The ice cream is lightly sweetened and helps bring out the sake flavour even more. Loved the mochi cubes on the side to give the dessert a slight chewiness to it and the rice crisps added a nice crunch. Definitely check this out if you’re into sake as the flavours are quite unique!
Pic 2️⃣: Warabi Mochi Matcha & Hojicha Soft Cream (蕨餅抹茶焙茶軟雪糕) - $59 hkd 🍦 🍵
— A combo that’s hard to go wrong with. The matcha definitely overpowered the hojicha this time as there was barely any hojicha soft cream in this swirl 😢 The warabi mochi had a nice chewy texture and rich matcha coating to it. The sweetness of the red bean helped balance out the bitter tea taste from the ice cream. Overall a very satisfying dessert.
