I've been to Namaste once before but I kinda forgot how it was. I had fallen in the habit of just eating at the Indian/Nepalese place in the Queen St cooked food center, because it was cheap and good and close. Vegetable Samosas ($45). The samosas didn't stand out, neither in a good nor in a bad way. Run-of-the-mill samosas are still really good, and that's what these were. I do wish however that one could purchase a smaller quantity. We were a party of 3, but normally I dine just with my wife (especially at places that are cheap and close to my house). I like samosas, but I can't eat two all by myself and then eat a regular meal.

The chicken momos ($55) are similarly aimed at a party of at least 4, because they come 8 to an order. I don't really recommend them though. I thought they were kind of bland. There's an unlicensed Nepalese place in LKF that does really fantastic momos, but these were pretty much like bland steamed dumplings. The wrapper was nice and the sauce improved them, but still, meh.

Palak paneer ($70)-- creamy spinach w/ cheese cubes. I wanted this dish in particular and I wasn't disappointed. One thing I like about Indian cuisine is that it's not hard to get your vegetables. This rendition was nice and creamy, not too bitter, very good.

We got lamb rogan josh ($80). On the menu, it is listed as spice level 2 (on a 0-4 scale), and we were asked if we were OK if it was spicy. Of course, we said yes. However, it was not spicy in the least. I was excited that much of the menu was marked as being spicy, but now I am less excited by this fact. As you can see from the picture, the curry isn't very red as rogan josh typically is and it's a bit thin. However, it was still pretty good and the lamb was tender.

Pulau rice-- excellent, nicely separate grains great for mixing with even thick sauces like the spinach-based palak paneer.

Garlic naan-- also very nice. Browned at the edges in the oven, a little crispy, still very chewy, and not super greasy.

Overall, I liked the food. Given as I live nearby, I probably will come here again. The prices are extremely reasonable, the setting is nicer than the cooked food center, and the drink selection is much larger than the other place (including draught beer, Nepalese rum, and cocktails). There's not a lot of Indian food in Sheung Wan, so I'm glad I (re)-discovered this place.
