Went and tried Alvy's on Holland Street. The pizza was simply fabulous. The pizza had a nice rise and was perfectly cooked. The toppings were even better. My favourite was Mala Dee Daa (super spicy with numbing and regular chilies) and the vegetarian pizza with lots of chopped Asparagus (so it was actually healthy too!). My favourite appetizer was latkes which were crunchy and were served with a nice gingery dip. The beer and cocktail selection was excellent as well. I had beer called "Hak Mo Sheung" which our server told was a barrel aged whisky stout from a local brewery called Young Master and it was quite delicious!
The ambience of the place is very much like a New York restaurant, with red light from a bright red Neon sign filtering through the windows. Also the mirror work and the dim lights gave the right ambience. Its a great addition to the neighborhood, and definitely worth a few more visits to try the other pizzas, beer and dishes on the menu.
