Too busy to cook dinner, we opted for take away that evening. This time from 町町丼丼Machi Donburi. Located in Central, it is a fairly decent size fast food style restaurant serving donburi. There is a dine in space that consists of a counter. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge even for dine in. They also are offering a 35% discount on mains. As there was a discount we decided to order two donburis and appetizers.
Everything was packed in sturdy plastic containers that didn't spill on the way home. It also was still hot when we sat down to eat.
I had the Oyako Don Chicken and Egg ($50). First of the rice was a lot. A lot more than expected. They used Japanese pearl rice as well so it was soft and sticky. The egg was fluffy and soft. The chicken was moist and sprinkled with shichimi so it gave it a bit of a peppery kick.
Boyfriend had the Gyu Don ($44). The beef was soft. Lots of juicy sweet onions and lots of sauce to coat all the rice. Felt more like homemade gyu don instead of something from a package.
We also shared appetizers. The Ika Tempura with Peppered Mayo ($38) was still crispy after we took it home. The squid was tender and the coating was well seasoned with some nori. The dipping sauce had a bit of heat from the black pepper.
The Sesame Chicken Wings ($32) were my favourite. The wings were juicy and crisp. They were well seasoned and tasted a bit like the ones from Nagoya.
Prices were not expensive after the discount. Portions were more than generous and food tasted fairly good. Service is fast and everything was packaged well so nothing fell apart and still maintained heat.
