I heard about The West several times, but I have no interest in “hotel style” buffet in Yuen Long until yesterday. It is because my friend’s bro has tried and recommend my friend to try. Of course, she chose me to be with her. There were lots of people when I arrived at 8pm. And I can see those used groupons. There were lots of people when I arrived at 8pm. And I can see those used groupons. One more reason to challenge its quality. I went to the sashimi counter first to ordered salmon sashimi and then fetched some sushi. I got salmon sushi, shrimp sushi and some rolls. Salmon sashimi is better than I expected. No ice bits and frosting taste. The rolls and sushi were fine, average quality you can get. There were cold cuts and salads if you want, but I went straight to the mains. I took sausages, grilled oysters, mushroom pork balls, fried shrimps, a fried sweet potato cake and a Japanese toast. Sausages were like the one served in Café de Coral – don’t waste your appetize. Grilled oysters were fine, but you need to be real quick to get it. Mushroom pork balls were questionable, it could be hotter. Fried shrimps were clearly not homemade and needed a little bit color, but it tasted sort of good. The sweet potato cake was also good. However, the toast was like the food they taught on the kid program – a 6-year-old can handle it. Just the corn, imitated crab, mayo…or ANYTHING you like on the toast!! There was a great variety of dessert, the Swiss roll, lamington, chocolate cake, blueberry cheese cake, strawberry mousse cake, crème brulee, egg tart…OMG, there were too much and I can’t remember.
I would recommend this restaurant to someone with a very very low budget since their price decreases when the guest number increases. Also, check out if there are groupon available. Don’t be a fool like me.
