Boyfriend and I were in Sham Shui Po's Dragon Center, looking at the little tiny shops hidden inside the Apple Mall section of the mall. It's an interesting section of the mall as I always find tiny little shops that sell all sorts of interesting things. Sometimes I get a bit lost as it always seems like a maze.Among one of those shops I discovered a cafe called Cafe Charms. After looking at the info on the front, it was the same one as the one in Hung Hum. I had tried that one before and though
Among one of those shops I discovered a cafe called Cafe Charms. After looking at the info on the front, it was the same one as the one in Hung Hum. I had tried that one before and thought it was fairly decent so boyfriend and I went inside for a tea break.
It's a much smaller space than the one in Hung Hum. In fact it's more like a corner of the mall and fairly cramped. Menu is in English and Chinese. As we were there for afternoon tea session, we ordered from their tea set menu. Tea sets come with a set drink with optional upgrades. Mentaiko Cream Spaghetti with Bacon ($72). The pasta was a bit on the overcooked side but at least the sauce was creamy enough and a nice amount of mentaiko. There was a generous amount of bacon. Baked Potato Skins with Bacon and Onion with Chicken Wings ($58). I love chicken wings so when I see it on the menu, I always have a craving. The wings were fried with a crunchy herby coating that tasted pretty good. The bacon skins were stuffed with bacon, onion and cheese. And lots of cheese, too! It came with a little bit of salad. Tea sets come with a regular coffee or tea but they give an option of upgrading.
Matcha Latte ($6). I added $6 for a matcha latte as they informed me the coffee machine was broken that day. It came with a super cute bear latte art. The matcha was ok though a bit too powdery for my liking. Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie ($9). Special drinks have an upgrade of $9. Boyfriend ordered this. I quite liked it. The smoothie was thick and creamy with lots of blueberry taste. It was topped with whipped cream and bits of blueberries. Hokkaido Red Bean Waffle ($68). While we were eating, we discovered a friend was nearby so we ordered a waffle to share. The waffle came with a scoop of green tea ice cream. There was a lot of super sweet red bean paste and it was all topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. How can one not love sprinkles? The waffle was soft insdie with a crispy exterior. Everything was devoured quickly. A nice option for a cafe break in Sham Shui Po, an area that doesn't have many places like this. I would return for a waffle break.
