There are not a lot of people dining at night. Just few couples enjoying the dinner set at Angelina Paris. I love the romantic atmosphere there especially with the French music.

*The ambience is quite different during day time, less romantic, more relaxing. You can even sit at the balcony, enjoy the harbourview and have your breakfast.

I have ordered their L'african (HKD88). The chocolate, cream and cup are served separately.

You need to pour the chocolate into the cup. From the velocity of the chocolate you can tell it is fairly viscous.

After pouring the chocolate into the cup, the chandelier from the ceiling is clearly reflected in the cup. This reminds me of the lyrics of Chandelier by Sia, "I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier - I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist." I'm gonna have a sip of the chocolate and live like there's no tomorrow. Taste fruity.

L'african looks like the hurricane in the storm after I add the fresh cream. Interestingly, the cream itself tastes like cotton candy. L'african ends with a nutty taste with the fresh cream. Some people think L'african is not worth the price. I agree that this is quite pricey, but I must also admit that this is one of the most quality hot chocolates I have ever drunk in Hong Kong.

Looking at the menu, I am totally drawn to Flore the rapsberry cake. Unfortunately, it is not available during this season.

Alternatively, waiter recommends one of the signature desserts - Mont Blanc Framboise (HKD90). I believe what makes it outstanding is not only about its appearance, but also its mouthfeel.

The cream inside is one of the fresh ones I have ever tasted in my whole life. It is as soft and airy as the cloud in the sky. Its outer shell, however, is too sweet for me. Deep inside the crust of the mountain is the raspberry pieces which further balances the overall sweetness of the dessert. The base of the dessert is the biscuit as crispy and yet as sweet as sugar. I would prefer real chestnut to the sweet biscuit.

Another impressive dessert is Paris-New York (HKD90) with Chou pastry, pecan praline light cream and crunchy pecan praline heart. The chou pastry is freshly made and a bit salty. As this is less sweet than Mont Blanc, I love this more. Similarly, the size is amazingly large.

I am not a fan of citron dessert, but Angelina Paris' Cheesecake citron (HKD85) is an exception. This actually looks like mattress

There is no touch of sugar within the lemon lime confit. Cheesecake mousse is as smooth as souffle. Leon shortbread is crunchy as described in the menu. You will be hungrier after having this.

I have also tried Angelina Paris' Tart tout chocolat, which is crunchy, yummy but not so impressive. When you have too much cocoa crumble, you just prefer something less dry and irritaing to your throat. I do think this dessert is well made, but just that I am not a huge fan of crunchy dessert.

Besides cakes, I also quite adore Angelina Paris' macarons. Their pistachio macaron reminds me of those from Belgium.

Tired of the hot chocolate, I would also try their tea for easier digestion- Herbal infusion (HKD65) which bears the taste of cinnamon and spice. 

In short, Angelina Paris' pastries are high-quality but come at a price. Desserts, however, makes one irrational. I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier... from Angelina Paris, to my dream.
