Mediterranean Salmon & Cucumber BloomerI really liked the labna/yoghurt dressing, which I felt went very well with smoked salmon. Not too sure what difference its ‘improved bloomer bread’ has, but as usual, the bread was of great quality. Brie & Caramelized Onion BloomerThere was a very generous amount of brie in the sandwich – unlike sandwiches at many other places, there is no ‘halfway line’ on the bread that seems to invisibly limit the area that the filling can occupy. No, prêt’s sandwich
Brie & Caramelized Onion Bloomer There was a very generous amount of brie in the sandwich – unlike sandwiches at many other places, there is no ‘halfway line’ on the bread that seems to invisibly limit the area that the filling can occupy. No, prêt’s sandwiches have always been filled to the crust (forgive me if you’ve experienced otherwise). Not only was the brie sticking out beyond the crust, but they were actually overlapping each other, resulting in quite a thick layer of cheesiness. I guess that’s why they charge $48.
In addition, there was a great deal of caramelized onion. I’ve tried many variations of this chutney-type condiment, and usually prefer the ones that carry a sweeter/ vinegary taste, but this one had a strong salty tinge. Nevertheless, I liked it – the onions were in shreds, and not fully diced/mushed up, and reminded me a bit of sauerkraut… It was a good complement to the cheese. I also found a few raisins within the onions, which helped to bring out the taste of the brie.
I think I would definitely try the third chef’s specials: Italian Prosciutto & Parmesan Bloomer.
