As we approach Chinese New Year, Jamie is launching their first ever CNY menu in Hong Kong! Well, the dishes aren't really that Italian as you may expect, but instead with cooked with ingredients you find in the cuisine, adding a slight oriental twist to them. The menu for 2 was HK$888 (lucky numbers in Chinese), with 5 savoury dishes, fluffy rice, Chinese veggies and 2 desserts. Honestly I will be so amazed if any couple can finish everything because there is just way too much food for two! If

The menu for 2 was HK$888 (lucky numbers in Chinese), with 5 savoury dishes, fluffy rice, Chinese veggies and 2 desserts. Honestly I will be so amazed if any couple can finish everything because there is just way too much food for two! If you come in 3 or 4, all dishes are sharable and adding a pizza and perhaps an antipasti will definitely be enough.

We started of with some Crispy Duck & Squash Salad. This was one of my favourite. The salad was mixed with sesame sauce, pomegranate, chill, mint, pumpkin seeds and coriander. Together with duck and all, it gave such a complicated yet refreshing flavour. I wished the squash to be mushier though to blend in better with everything else.

Crispy Spinach & Ricotta Raviolis imitate the Cantonese Crispy Wonton. Instead of the cream sauce they usually come with, they had a light sprinkle of parmesan on it, with some chili jam on the side as a dip. They were far from greasy, but then I guess the taste of the filling was rather mild that it was totally undermined by the sweet chili jam. It is probably quite difficult to have the pasta sheet as light as the spring roll wrap they use for crispy wonton. Nice try though.

Honey & Ginger Chicken Wings were not as juicy as I would have preferred, but the overall taste mimics the Chinese flavours really well with the wings marinated in dark soy sauce. They are very different Honey Wings you will find, but are nice to have to celebrate the festival like the locals. A little more honey / sweetness may help to balance out the saltiness of the soy sauce.

Looking for more greens? The Roasted Sweet Potato & Quinoa salad was very bare and plain. It was definitely very filling and hearty, but I'd fancy a little more feta to boost up the flavour.

Later on comes the Oven-Baked Seabass with rice and some veggies with garlic. It was  hard to believe I was at Jamie's!

The presentation of the Oven-baked Seabass was exactly like our pan-fried Fish at home. Though I guess a light drizzle of oil on top will help yield some crispier skin.

Aside of the savoury dishes from the CNY menu, we also shared a Fungi Misti pizza ($175). This TST store is by far the only one that serves pizzas in Hong Kong. But Pizzas here are really legit, totally the napoleon style with slight chewy texture in the centre and the puffy crust. I loved the truffle cream, the earthy mushrooms together with the smokey mozzarella and the fresh rockets. Nom nom!

For dessert, there were the Black Rice Pudding and the Pineapple & Pomegranate Yoghurt.

The Black Rice Pudding was very thin, watery, texture a bit like baby food to be honest, serving with some banana puree on top. Overall it was a bit too complicated for me...

But I loved the Yoghurt! It was presented in a gelato form, with simply fresh pineapple and sesame thins. The yoghurt was tangy and silky, together with the fruit made such a refreshing ending note.

For drinks, I had their signature Bloody Mary ($76). It was so refreshing with the sweetness from the red fruit and the hint of spiciness. Highly recommended!

In general I must say the Kung He Fat Choi CNY menu may not be what you would expect if you are looking for typical Chinese food, but then having said that they are quite creative indeed and it's definitely a great way to dine like a local in a care-free western restaurant setting alongside with some of the best pizzas and cocktails. This menu is only served until 13/2 just before Valentine's Day. Don't miss out the first ever, one and only CNY dinner set at Jamie's!
