Went here on an Italian craving and it was somewhat disappointing. I will say that the restaurant is quite reasonably priced for its location—pastas were about $100 each and they had two-for-$80 cocktails that weren’t bad. It was easy to find a seat on a Saturday night, but that should have told me something about what to expect.I got the pasta ‘Al Dente’ which I take it is their house special. It was a thin flat type of noodle, with grilled chicken, tomatoes, spinach and garlic in a white wine
I got the pasta ‘Al Dente’ which I take it is their house special. It was a thin flat type of noodle, with grilled chicken, tomatoes, spinach and garlic in a white wine sauce. The ‘kicker’ was that there was also diced pickled jalapenos in there. The menu said ‘jalapenos’ and I assumed they meant fresh ones.
What will I say? The sauce was unimpressive, though not bad. The spinach was very bitter, and since the spinach was everywhere, the whole thing was on the bitter side. Vinegary, salty, pickled jalapenos just don’t strike me as… appropriate for this sort of dish. I did think the grilled chicken in the pasta was very tender and nicely flavored. B-
My wife got the penne with puttanesca. She didn’t particularly care for it and gives it a C-.
We had some bruschetta with feta, tomatoes, and basil. It wasn’t as crunchy as I was expecting; it was a little like garlic bread with feta and tomatoes on top… but I liked it. Probably too much for 2 people who are also getting other food, you may just want to skip the appetizers at this place if you’re not in a large group. B+
For cocktails I had a mojito and a long island iced tea. The mojito was very minty and refreshing; the long island was pretty strong, though that’s how it should be. I definitely recommend this place for cocktails as $80/2 is a decent price and they don’t skimp on the size or the alcohol content. A
Food-wise, though, there are better Italian places, I’d just skip this one. C
