After lunch today, my sister and I took the ferry to TST for some coffee and cake.Environment & Hygiene:When you first walk in, you see the different Illy products. Then, once you go further in, you can order on the right, where you can see the selection of desserts, and take a seat on the left; food is brought to you after ordering. Environment & Hygiene:When you first walk in, you see the different Illy products. Then, once you go further in, you can order on the right, where you can see the selection of desserts, and take a seat on the left; food is brought to you after ordering. I liked the many cool pictures that were hanging on the wall Above the seating area. Hygiene was okay.
Service:Most of the staff looked bored or something and lacked facial expression, which didn't feel too welcoming. We were very lucky, because the espresso machine broke down right after we got our drinks.
Taste & Value:
The two of us each got a tea set, and each set comes with a hot cappuccino or caffe latte. I had intentionally come for the "Illymisu, which is their version of a tiramisu, so I chose that and a caffe latte ($79). The illymisu was served with a shot of espresso, and the server warned us that it'd be very bitter if we used it all. Anyways, the cake was awful alone without the espresso because it was very dry although it had some nice fluffy cream on top. However, once we poured the espresso over, it instantly became a perfect tiramisu. That was all that was needed to finish the cake off. I liked that I could tailor the taste of the coffee taste to my preference. Also, I liked that the cake wasn't too sweet. The latte was good too. It had a hint of sweetness to it, which I liked.
My sister chose the Hazelnut,Almond, Chocolate Layer Cake with a hot cappuccino ($69). This cake was so so good! It had a crunchy bottom, rich choclate and strong tasting nut flavours. This dessert was better tasting than the Illymisu in my opinion. I had some of my latte and ended up trading with her because she thought that the cappuccino was too strong. The coffee was not bad, with a strong coffee taste that wasn't too acidic nor bitter. I liked the latte more.
Final Verdict:i want to try more of their menu.
