Been feeling a bit under the weather as the temperature has been dropping and the malls are still blasting AC full on. I decided to go to 金峰 for some congee - my comfort food!As I approach the restaurant, I saw that the special for today was pig blood congee which happens to be my favorite! The accomodations are basic with big round tables and stools. As I approach the restaurant, I saw that the special for today was pig blood congee which happens to be my favorite! The accomodations are basic with big round tables and stools. The menu here focuses mainly on congee but also has side dishes like rice noodle rolls, fried dough and fried noodle as well. Pig Blood Congee ($18) - for a mere $18, the bowl of congee was big with an abundant amount of pig blood. The pig blood was soft and jello-like. The congee not only had pig blood but also fish fillet and dried scallops to enhance the flavor of the congee. The texture of the congee was just right - soft yet thick. I don't think I can find a better bowl of congee for the price! Rice Noodle Roll with Fried Dough ($12) - the rice noodle wrap was soft and smooth while the fried dough was crispy. Some sweet soy sauce had already been added and there were more condiments on the table for one to add according to preference - sweet sauce, sesame sauce, hot sauce, and sesame. I'd usually add some sweet and hot sauce to enhance the taste. A great dish to go with the congee! The congee and the side dishes here are superb and cheap! The service was great as the waitresses are generally polite and helpful, especially to the older patrons. This restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, and any time of day actually!
