The singing and dancing went on and on for hours, along with some fun games and competitions to entertain the diners. It was so cheerful to see people doing the "Chicken Dance" as well as singing the "Table Banging Song". Everyone was so happy and participating after a couple of German beers.

One of the highlight would be the beer drinking competitions which is going to have a grand final round on 17th Oct at King Ludwig's Wan Chai Branch. Participants need to form a team of two and try to drink two large pints of beer as quick as possibly as a team.

The winner of the final will receive a round trip to Germany for 5 days 3 nights. Come join us during the final!

As a slow drinker, we decided to sit back and sip some beer slowly. We have chosen Maisel's Weisse on the left which is a white beer full of floral and honey flavour, while the dark beer on the right is the infamous Acrobrau full of chocolate and coffee flavour. All German beers are freshly poured from their chilled tap and they are a must to order no matter if it is during Oktoberfest month!

By the way, if you are not a drinker, there are tons of options on the menu for you to choose, including this special passion fruit slushy.

Undoubtedly the best bretzels in town, they are crispy on the outside and soft inside, do you know they went perfectly with honey mustard?

The roll are to go with liver pate or herb cream cheese or both! And who doesn't like sticks? Especially the very uncommon beer sticks that are full of wheat and barley flavour!

Landjäeger with Celery and Walnut Salad ($95)

We have never had Landjäeger before, they are quite hard in texture but very flavourful. They are kind of like salami but only with a mild taste. The salad on the side is not the be missed, the creaminess but refreshing taste balances out the savoriness from the sausage. This could be a very good bar snack to go down with your pint of beer!

Don't worry, although it looks a bit like the Chinese Dried Sausage but it was not fatty at all.

Rich Potato Soup with German Chicken ($80)

Potatoes play a big part in German cuisine, this bowl of soup was rich and creamy from the chunks of spuds, while the chicken pieces were super tender and moist. We loved it!

Goulash Soup with Oxtail ($80)

What's not to love from a European goulash soup? The slightly spicy soup gave a kick to the whole thing.

“Strammer Max” - Grilled Ham Steak with with Potato Cakes and
Cheese and fried Egg ($140)

The German ham steak was completely different to Hong Kong's thinly sliced ham. It was more like a piece of meatloaf instead because it was so meaty and thick. Indeed, the potato cakes were housemade and they were so crispy and not greasy at all. As a meat lover, we do appreciate to have a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg to smooth it down.

Crazy German Feast ($360)

Sausages are one of the signature dishes at King Ludwig. All Sausages are freshly imported from Germany where they are
produced by Master Butcher Buchmann in Ravensburg. This dish contains a few types of sausages, braised pig feet, corns, sauerkraut, and roasted potatoes.

All sausages had an appreciating fact of its snap effect to their casing skins, the braised pig feet were super soft and full of collagen, the sauerkraut were just like the ones I had in Berlin, last but not least, the new potatoes were very good in quality as we could tell from their taste.

King Ludwig’s Pork Knuckle – German Import, served with
Sauerkraut and Potatoes (for 1-2 persons) ($225)

Another staple dish to at the restaurant, the quality of the dish is always as good as it can be. The skin was like crispy as chips and the meat was still very soft and moist. It was savoury but not too savoury. It was a fun and eye catching dish to share among friends and families. Again, the amazing sauerkraut were served on the side and we couldn't stop eating!

King Ludwig’ s Black Forest Cake ($95)

Do you see the blur edge from the bottom right end of the cake? Yes, this is how giant the piece of cake was. It has a solid three layers of cakes and cream topped with some chocolate flakes like. It was very valuable for this size and very tasty also! High recommend!

“Kaiserschmarrn“ with Prune and Apple Compot
(please allow 20 mins preparation time) ($90)

Basically a mountain of shredded fluffy pancakes, they were very light and slightly sweetened, therefore, a sauce dipping action is a must.

We had a whole night full of laughter, music, alcohol, and of course some German food. Oktoberfest had never been so much fun and we are definitely going to the Wan Chai branch for the final competition! Are you coming with us?
