FSAP Grade: 72/100 B-
Food: 35/50
A supposed haven of epicurean delights, Simply life instead constantly disappoints. Of course its prime location in the central hub of Hong Kong- IFC- guarantees a certain standard of quality, though for a restaurant of a supposedly good calibre the quality of its food is not acceptable. Multiple burgers were had by our group as well as fish and chips. The beer battered fish appeared to have been steamed instead of fried, such was the sogginess of its outer layer. Burger buns did not assimilate well with the meat, and the adjacently placed french fries were oil drenched and nausea inducing. One almost wishes that the previous canteen restaurant was still there. I know i do.
Service; 13/20
Service is average, yet their constant neglect and forgetfulness to bring us drinks- to put it in layman's term- pissed us off to no end.
Ambience: 16/20
Even with a panoramic view looking out to the harbour one would expect that the ambience would follow suit with the food and service and be exceedingly horrible, yet it impressed us with being well lit and casual. Its marble and poshness was a bit too grandiose even for our liking, but it was still a reasonably pleasant environment to be in.
Price: 8/10
Despite its prime location in IFC the price is reasonable and not expensive, yet for the price we pay, we would expect a bette quality of food. CRS' 8/10 is an encouragement and motivation to whoever that is associated with the restaurant reads this in the hope that they continue to strive to create better food and not food that one would not find out of place in a boarding school in England.
