Went to this restaurant with a friend last Saturday. Due to its location and the fact that it was Saturday, the restaurant was not too busy. So it was the perfect place for a get together and have a nice chat. The restaurant is clean and the decor is homely and warm. There is also have a really nice spacious terrace which is not open to public yet. But I will definitely come back for a nice relaxed outdoor lunch/dinner in the spring time! (My only complaint is that the seats are slightly unc
Anways, back to the food...
Upon arrival, the friendly staff welcomed us as we stepped out of the lift. While we were browsing through the menu, they had already brought us some delicious bread with a black truffle spread!
The menu has a good variety of options from appetizers to desserts. Many of the dishes sounded so good! But after a long debate and staff recommendations, my friend and I chose the following dishes...
Salumi Misti
A good starter for sharing! We saw the chef preparing the platter for other tables and decided to order it as well. There were five different types of ham, (ones which I can not remember the names of) which were all delicious and different in taste and texture. There were three slices of each ham which makes this starter perfect for sharing between friends.Arancini di riso
Another delicious starter. Although this dish was deep fried, it wasn't too oily or heavy. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheese was fully melted onto the risotto inside the "ball" and you can taste the creamy (flavorful, but not too strong) cheese with every bite. A very good tuna tartare. This dish has a unique flavor and good presentation. The portion was generous and enough to share between 2-3 as a light starter. The sauce which covered it was creamy but light and tangy. It was really appetitzing! Although, personally, I thought the sauce was slightly too tangy and covered the flavor of the fresh tuna underneath. Grigliata mista di pesce fresco
(from top to bottom: cuttlefish fillet, half lobster, salmon fillet, squid)Finally a main dish after all those starters!! It was difficult enough to narrow down our choices of starters to 3 let alone ONE main!!! However, we chose this Chef's choice grilled seafood platter in the end, thinking it would be less filling after all those starters. We were so shocked when the dish was served! It was big! Although not stated in the menu, I think this dish is plenty to share between 2. (Especially after the starters!) All of the seafood was fresh and grilled to perfection! And nothing was over or under cooked. I particularly loved the salmon fillet! It's difficult to find a place which doesn't overcook the salmon but they've done it perfectly. (And definitely points added for it being BONELESS!)
Tiramisu della casa
We ended our evening with this yummy Tiramisu after seeing it come out of the kitchen non-stop. It's strongly recommended for those who like Tiramisu or any desserts at all! This Tiramisu embodies a perfect balance of liquor, Mascarpone cheese and coffee. You can taste the three flavors very distinctively in each bite. The flavors are strong, but the Tiramisu itself remained light in texture and not too heavy on the stomach. Again, the portion was generous and enough to share. However, I do recommend getting one for yourself as you probably won't be satisfied eating only half! The food was really good and we were both so full and satisfied after finishing everything. But be warned. This is Italian FINE dining. Don't expect your bill to be cheap! For the dishes above, we each paid about $450 that night. The quality was definitely worth it and given the location, it is actually not that bad. But this is definitely not the type of restaurant an average person can eat at regularly. (Especially if you want to order wines!)
All in all, my friend and I both agreed that this was a good experience. If you have a craving for Italian food or just looking for a nice place for a get together with some friends, certainly give this restaurant a try! It's also recommended that you call to make a reservation in advance as it can get quite full on weekdays.
