Lunchtime on a Friday, and the restaurant is doing a busy service. The server asks you what you want, and instantly barks the order towards the kitchen. My order of Curry Beef-Brisket with rice ($54) arrives within the minute. There are no frills here - the curry is served separately from the rice, in a wide bowl for easy scooping. It is wonderfully spicy, but not overpowering. The beef brisket is fall-apart tender, and I am in love from the very first bite. With the large portion of rice, I had planned to eat about half. But spoon after spoon went into my mouth, and before I knew it, I had almost finished the entire thing.
What I like about this curry is that the sauce is not thickened by anything but the quantity of ingredients. I can see loads of onion and spices that have been cooked down to form the rich sauce. It is all so nicely balanced.
So quick was the service (and the speed at which I greedily wolfed down the meal) that I had a chance to sit, digest and rest after eating.
