:I have been to this restaurant many times by now, and have brought many friends. And last evening's meal, like all other meals I've had at this restaurant, was incredibly good. We were a party of six, and ordered four different curries (fish, beef brisket, mutton, vegetables) and two different tomato-sauce based items (prawns, ox-tongue). We had roti and rice. There is a certain centrality to the theme of cooking. Generally, there are two sauces: curry (with three levels of spiciness to choose f
There is a certain centrality to the theme of cooking. Generally, there are two sauces: curry (with three levels of spiciness to choose from) and tomato. On the basis of these two sauces, one has a range of options as to the main ingredient. The sauces are so tastily made, and the spices very well-balanced. What is most delightful about the curry is the liberal use of minced onions, giving any curry dish a depth of flavor that also brings out all the other ingredients in the curry. The tomato sauce is just plain heavenly. I can barely describe the strength of flavor! You will have to try it to know what I mean.
The general surroundings is very clean, cleaner in fact by a large margin to the next-door competitor by the same name. The staff is friendly enough to make one feel like one has just entered a neigborhood restaurant where everyone knows everyone else.
Price? I think the price is unbeatable. The handsome servings and the warmth that comes with how much love and attention goes into making the food will be fully appreciated even at a much higher price. But as it is, the owners have priced their menu most economically, a testament to their own passion for the making of the food.
If you're looking for an interesting curry, go there! But, be careful not to mistake this restaurant for the adjacent one by the same name. This one has bright cheerful orange chairs, and a very warm smiling lady that does the amazing food.
