Everything about this tiny Japanese-style dessert cafe in Sham Shui Po screams #instaworthy, from its minimalist wooden decor, hand-drawn menu to its delectable desserts and drinks. At around 1pm, we joined the long queue by writing down our contact details on a clipboard hanging outside. We wandered around the hip neighborhood before returning an hour later (despite the estimated wait to be 3 hours) and got lucky when a few tables in front of us didn’t come back, so no complaints that we were seated on the side bench instead of the spacious tatami platforms.

The retro caramel pudding’s eggy flavor contrasted well with the pool of deeply caramelized syrup, the dollop of whipped cream and the candied cherry on top. (Note: it seems that this dish is no longer available, but the menu has expanded since we visited last year)

The presentation of the kinako brown sugar soy milk was super photogenic, with a distinctable layer of milk foam and three chewy mochis generously sprinkled with roasted soybean flour. It was our first time trying such a unique combination, and we had to force ourselves to slowly savour each sip instead of gulping down the whole thing in seconds. (Tip: use the stick after eating the mochis to stir for a more balanced flavor)

The yuzu oolong tea was not as delightful as the other treats we ordered, but it was a refreshing way to quench our thirst, especially on a hot day
