Still working out jet lag after a trip home to Canada, I wanted to have dim sum. But since boyfriend is home in the USA for a while and it was a weekday and friends were all at work, I dim sum on my own.The place serves dim sum at all hours of the day and night. The afternoon tea set menu looks like this. Basically for $38, $42 or $43, you can choose a rice or noodle dish plus one dim sum of choice from the $34 selection. OR choose two dim sum for $34. Other extras like drinks, are an additional price. If you can't read the menu, like me, you can just compare words with their regular English menu to pick and choose your selection. I chose spare ribs with chicken feet steamed rice and a dim sum of steamed dumplings with meat and peanuts.
Rice was steamed ok. The spare ribs and chicken feet were so laden with MSG, I nearly had a seizure. Steamed dumplings with meat and peanuts was ok. The skin was a bit thick and there was quite a bit of filling to make up for it. Again, lots of MSG. It all comes with a pot of tea. Just regular jasmine. They had no other kind.
It's not great dim sum. It's not bad dim sum. Just an easy place for dim sum if you are dining alone and want something quick and inexpensive. I mean ... no 10% service was added.
I noted they were playing jazz as their background music. Odd choice for a dim sum restaurant.
