KUROBUTA (SALT) - Kyushu black pig belly strips with 3 layers. Good but did not have the unique Kurobuta 甘味 taste.

PORK SLICE (MISO) - This is normal pork but looks exactly like the Kurobuta pork above and tasted like it too, bar the miso marination difference. We weren't therefore convinced that the above was Kurobuta to be honest. Nevertheless, it makes for a good streaky bacon.

KOREAN LETTUCE - I always need this (サンチュ ) and rice to eat with 燒肉, since a bit of Greens offsets the strong taste of marinated meat, it also clears some of the 熱氣感覺!
Like Yakiniku itself, this was also adapted from Korea but they sometimes use Perilla leaves. The Korean Lettuce is half way between a Butter Lettuce and an Iceberg. It came with a sauce which tasted like a mix of Miso, Sesame, Mayo and Chili Powder but ultimately left untouched.

BEEF SHORT RIBS (SOY TARE SAUCE) - Ordered 2 plates of this and it was really good. Not fatty but enough since we still have Wagyu and this was quite tender - the sauce tonight was spot on, a bit of soy and garlicky taste, with a hint of sugar in it. This was much better than the last Mongkok's supper experience, which was like 2-2.5 times sweeter than tonight!

KYUSHU WAGYU BEEF SHORT RIBS - I ordered EXACTLY the same dish that I ordered @ Mongkok's Supper last time, this selling for I believe $198? This time, lady luck was on my side and its like a million times better! Its tender, it was fresh red rather than dull red like last time, the marbling also snow like and evenly distributed. It wasn't overly marinated at all either like last time. LOVED THIS!

YAKI ONIGIRI'S - There were pre-grilled by Morihachi and not by the customer unlike at 伊呂波, but they weren't grilled well enough so we finished the grilling ourselves, only to have a 'Know-it-all' Waitstaff coming to teach us how not to grill it again or how not to do other things (he's actually been doing this the whole night with everything else, looking down on customers like we're clueless - rather than from his genuine heart!) These rice balls are really tiny, plus apart from the 醤油, isn't a normal plain Yaki Onigiri. What we received was the おかかの焼きおにぎり style with bonito flakes scattered within, which was not advertised on the menu. Some people I know (including myself!) can tend to find this grilled version 'fishy', whereas its less apparent on non-grilled Onigiri rice balls or triangles.

OX TONGUE WITH NEGI - They carry an alternative thicker cut, higher priced version as well but being the Host I convinced (or manipulated lol!) the table to eat the thinner Tongue version 'wrapped around Negi', a very popular Japanese way. The tongue was great, but the Negi here wasn't the chopped green spring onions I was hoping for. It was diced normal onions mixed with spring onion heads, the wrong whiter end.... This bit isn't very authentic nor honest in my opinion! Nevertheless..... still good. The above showing-off Waitstaff kept 'commanding' us how to wrap the tongues around the raw Negi to eat. But these were placed on raw meat before, of course we needed to cook them a little bit first, by putting them on the tongue after the 1st flip. IDIOT - NO SENSE OF FOOD SAFETY!

RICE - The rice was Japanese Pearl Rice, it says so on signages and it tasted like so. However it wasn't cooked too well, being a bit too lumpy. However its only $10 or $15 from memory. (At 和宴 its $30 and other En Group shops $25 a bowl, after a $50 beer and another $28-30 appetiser charge, you're already down $130~ish after 10% before starting to eat any meat. En Group = Ridiculous!)

BEER - Beer and drink prices aren't too expensive here, its mostly affordable and even Half Price after 10:30pm.

OVERALL - the food quality was great measured against its affordable prices, despite paying full price tonight. Its even better than 牛角 in Japan since that's a cheaper type of shop catering for students or young workers. Locally, this was better than my experiences at 和宴 (unfresh meat, expensive) & 和幸 (more meat selections, but poor cuts, taste & price), it even surpassed a previous meal at 伊呂波 (very authentic in taste, but less-neater meat cuts and platters).

At this Mid Range Price and considered as a Mid-Tier Yakiniku Ya - this is worthy of a '5' and I would definitely try it again. After a disastrous supper meal from last time, however, I will be short of recommending their lunch or supper offers! 這裡,不可貪小便宜吧: 博佢會一分錢俾一分貨才是上策, 食得安安樂樂算!
