Dinner buffets are $788 plus 10% service charge. If you're after good service in a charming and quiet setting in Tsim Sha Tsui with a reasonable range of food to choose from, the Verandah is a reasonably good choice, but if you're after free-flow oysters, dim sum, Japanese fare (other than sushi and sashimi), classic Chinese dishes, grilled red meat, or crêpe, you may have to check out other dinner buffets. As examples, for roughly the same price, Marriott and Grand Hyatt would offer a far wider
Seafood and Sashimi
The lobster glass with avocado purée and mango was moreish. I asked the kitchen to prepare this without the avocado and mango and helped myself to five servings because the lobster was just so fresh (and I just came back from Boston!). The abalone was similarly delicious. Boiled crab was decent and fresh enough, though I wouldn't mind having larger claws and legs! Those served at the buffet were rather too puny and cute.
Sushi was OK, not too much to comment on. Although I'm not a fan, the raw geoduck siphon slices were crunchy with a bright clam flavor. Those who are coming for sashimi might have found the selection rather disappointing with limited choice as they do not serve smaller fish or sea urchin.

Hot food
Curry was good (there are a few pots, all different) and while everyone seemed to think the prime rib was not worth having, I thought it was pretty OK and had half a slice. Scallops were overcooked. Baked lobster was not too memorable either. You also have an eclectic selection of various different kinds of meat cooked in a semi-western way e.g. baked fish, pan-fried duck, etc. None of these were particularly good or bad. The pasta station does serve good pasta, though.
Salad
For those who are trying to cut down on the calories, they'd be quite happy here. The salad bar offers a wide selection of fresh leaves and sides to go with that. I heard that bread and cheese were great, but was too busy savoring the lobster glasses.
Dessert
The dessert table is attention-catching and pretty. Kids would be delighted to see the colorful piles of macaroons that are freshly baked and not too sweet. They might also like the marshmallows and candies that are stored in beautiful, tall glass containers. Ice cream is made in-house (there were only two flavors each of ice cream and sorbet available) and very nice, but I was disappointed with the choice of flavors (hazelnut and chocolate only). The baked mango crumble pudding was amazing. Guests at dinner buffets also get served a soufflé to end the meal. If you have a special request like a birthday message, you need to file your request at the time of booking.
Cakes and mousse cups are way too standard (as is often the case). There are these long crunchy sticks that come coated in raspberry, chocolate, and so on that taste better than your Pocky, but were not to die for. You can also have fruits or strawberry sticks if you don't fancy loading yourself with sugar before bed time.
Why wasn't there a pancake station?

Drinks
Free tea or coffee for each guest. You can also get free-flow juices, soft drinks and beer with an extra $138, or order wine and spirits à la carte.
Service
Mainly professional and friendly (and some went the extra mile) but most of the staff are under 30 years old, it seemed, and didn't appear to have been staying long enough in the industry to socialize comfortably with guests. It also felt as if the restaurant was slightly understaffed, or perhaps Friday nights are just too busy.
