Disappointing food, a mature service

When you spend $600 on a main and $1100 a head you might expect the food to be freshly cooked and tasty. That's not always the case at Continental. Tonight meal was mediocre. The oysters were fine but when asked for cocktail sauce we were told a flat no - the kitchen doesn't do. The other starter ordered by our group of four was forgotten. When nudged they did apologise and then deliver promptly but the carbonara that eventually came wasn't worth waiting for. For mains the beef short rib was dry

The oysters were fine but when asked for cocktail sauce we were told a flat no - the kitchen doesn't do. The other starter ordered by our group of four was forgotten. When nudged they did apologise and then deliver promptly but the carbonara that eventually came wasn't worth waiting for. For mains the beef short rib was dry and the accompanying vegetables looked and tasted like yesterday's leftovers. Horrible. The rest of the party had beef cheeks which were nothing to write home about. He service was friendly but amature. Being callled "mate" by the servers is maybe nice for some but we aren't mates and they aren't sharing the bill. So maybe cut all the mate milarky and instead focus on getting he orders right and delivering the food promptly. We had to ask for our wine to be topped. Same for water. Same for bread. We also had to ask if they would clear our dirty plates. Simply rubbish.

The decor is expensive but that's doesn't mean nice. He acoustics are terrible. And why are there more than 12 CCTV cameras in such a small restaurant. Felt like we were on a TV show.

All in all a very missable experience. Thankfully we were with great company so the night was not totally ruined!
