So this place just opened up near me and it's got great reviews. I think it's located where Not A Burger used to be-- I'm glad that's Not A Thing anymore. I popped in for takeaway at lunch.I see why people are excited: there are some pretty cheap sushi sets here. Unfortunately, I am a product of my culture, and so many things in the sets I just cannot eat, like raw shrimp, raw squid, and sea urchin. So I got the stuff that more closely approximated the sushi Americans are into.We got two rolls,

A California roll is an uramaki roll with cucumber, avocado, and crab meat (or imitation crab meat). It's the summer now and avocados are widely available and relatively cheap ("practically free," according to a Coconuts Hong Kong article). I had one I bought from Graham St. with lunch yesterday. Create Sushi's "California Roll" had no avocado on it, but instead had egg. That's just not a California roll. The avocado is the crucial part. It's the fish-substitute. Replace it with egg, and what you have is an egg roll, not a California roll.
The softshell crab roll was better, but there was a whole lot more crunchy fried bits than crab meat. Mostly it was unremarkable.
I was pretty disappointed in my experience. There are plenty of options in Sheung Wan, so I don't think I'll be back here.
