The caption is the first line of "Do you hear the people sing?" in Les Miserables. But this cafe is nothing to do with stage works. After the dinner in Wildfire, some of us decided to continue our hot gossip somewhere in SOHO. We went down Elgin Street and were attracted by some choir singing. Oh, there was a casual group of westerners singing songs together. They sang, chatted and laughed. We were all impressed by this friendly atmosphere and decided to have a try. This is an Italian restaurant
After the dinner in Wildfire, some of us decided to continue our hot gossip somewhere in SOHO. We went down Elgin Street and were attracted by some choir singing. Oh, there was a casual group of westerners singing songs together. They sang, chatted and laughed. We were all impressed by this friendly atmosphere and decided to have a try. This is an Italian restaurant. It also served English tea and desserts. The owner has put quite a few oldies in the restaurant, like old model camera, Coca-Cola bottle and old car models. There are chairs as well as sofa. Certainly, we opted for sofa. The sofa could be more comfortable if the back panel was taller so that we could rest our head on it. And the sofa corner was not spacious enough that we could not fully extend our legs.
We had a cup of tea and some desserts. There were only two dessert choices, mango mousse cake and strawberry pancake. I had a cup of lemon and ginger tea and a small slice of mango mousse cake. As usual, I also shared a piece of pancake with K. The owner was an art lover. His customers came from different countries and would organize a casual social gathering regularly. According to the owner, there will be an Argentinian Tango gathering in the next few weeks. Besides, there are regular study groups of various language, like Spanish, French and German. Those who would like a third language should come. I'm not a genius in linguistic. and I am not fond of learning a 3rd language. However, it was quite wonderful to relax myself on the sofa and listen to group singing. On the other hand, it may not be suitable to have private chat and gossip. You have to speak up when the singing group was singing aloud.
The dessert was well done, particularly the pancake as it was made when ordered. The pancake was still rich in egg flavour when served. We had two rounds of dessert order. For the same dessert, it came in 2 different styles. That's quite interesting. It costs around $30 for a cup of tea. For the dessert, it was only around $30 as well. I think it would be a good idea to have a tea set there.
