We ordered 2 set lunch: Under the Crust (urchin conchiglioni with squid cake) and Golden Ratio (hanger steak salad). Both came with a green salad and a drink. The green salad is bland - not much sauce, and certainly little flavour. We did not expect much anyway.Under the Crust. Under the Crust. The conchiglioni is fair - you could not expect getting tasty urchin sauce by paying $138. But at least you should not sprinkle chopped spring onion over a pasta dish. And definitely the squid cake should be pan-fried. They have blanched it instead, as if we are having a bowl of 墨丸河. That is unacceptable.
Golden Ratio. It is disastrous. The hanger steak is COLD. It's like they have pre-made the dish 2 hours ago and just serve it from the fridge. Maybe due to its coldness, the steak bears no smell of Mailard reaction at all. We can only tastes blood of the meat. The salad, as usual, is bland. At the end, we can only finish the veggie, leaving part of the hanger steak for our dog at home.
The drink, which is some kind of ginger tea, is nothing memorable but I am afraid to say it is already the best among the meal.
Each of the dishes come with a fancy name, but disappointing taste. The food they serve are for photo shooting, not eating. That is totally contrary to the nature of a restaurant. Definitely not my cup of tea.
