As other reviewers have said, this is not really Mexican food, or Tex-Mex, or NewMex-Mex, or anything that exists outside of Hong Kong. That doesn't mean it can't be good, but in this instance it is in fact not good. Across the street is Coyote, and while I have my complaints about Coyote, it is in an entirely different, better league than Agave. You should not go here.Pictured here are the "enchiladas verdes." I put that in scare quotes because these are not enchiladas. Enchiladas are en-chilie
Second, look at the cheese-- there's hardly any of it. The chicken inside was OK, but it didn't seem to be cooked in the verde sauce, but rather some sweet red sauce. I suspect the chicken is pre-cooked and goes in any dish with chicken in it; for the enchiladas, they roll it up in tortillas, sprinkle a meagre amount of cheese on top, stick it in the broiler for a few minutes, and then put it on a plate with some tasteless green sauce. Voila: baked tacos. D
Anyway, it's chipotle sauce with melted cheese and some beef chunks, and it comes with corn tortillas. Kind of like a queso dip with beef in it. And light on the queso. Anyway, the sauce was reasonably flavorful, but too thin to go on tortillas. The beef was in big chunks, and fairly chewy; we had to cut it up in slices to eat it in the tortillas. It comes with the dry rice, but not the bland beans. C+
As I said before, Coyote is across the street. It's not great or anything, but it does have enchiladas that are actually enchiladas. This place? C-
