Tai Ping Koon Restaurant (“TPK Café”) was a famous Hong Kong-style Western cuisine. I would say it represents Hong Kong first generation of “fusion food”. It is famous with its Swiss sauce chicken wings and the big Soufflé. Two days ahead of the Chinese New Year, it’s time to celebrate with teammate and wish all the best for the coming year!We had reserved the table and got there at around 1pm. Tai Ping Koon Restaurant (“TPK Café”) was a famous Hong Kong-style Western cuisine. I would say it represents Hong Kong first generation of “fusion food”. It is famous with its Swiss sauce chicken wings and the big Soufflé. Two days ahead of the Chinese New Year, it’s time to celebrate with teammate and wish all the best for the coming year!

We had reserved the table and got there at around 1pm. The restaurant was full and need to wait downstairs for walk-in. With the soft lights and wide tables and chairs, the environment was warm and comfortable. For me, the first impression of TPK Café was very similar with another restaurant called Loyal Dining來佬餐廳 in Central, which is much more expensive.

We ordered TPK Style chicken wings in Premium Swiss sauce with spaghetti太平館瑞士雞翼配意粉($95) which been stated clearly on menu that 20 minutes preparing time was needed. The lunch set included bread, soup (either Borsch or Cream soup)/salad and a drink. The 4 pieces of chicken wings were tender and delicious. The skin was fully covered with Swiss sauce and turned on my taste buds. Really fascinated! But the spaghetti could not absorb the Swiss sauce easily that I would rather recommend to pick the rice. The rice should be the perfect partner instead of spaghetti!

TPK Style Fried Flat Noodle with Sliced Beef in Premium Swiss Sauce太平館瑞士汁炒牛河($95) is highly recommended. The sliced beef was thick and taste a bit like Chinese style fried beef(中式牛柳). It was tasty that the flat noodle was moisten by the Swiss sauce and perfectly matched the dish. Although it was a bit salty and dark-colored, it really surprised me and I love it.

Waited for almost an hour, the monster-liked Soufflé ($128) came finally! Everyone was just stunned and speechless at the first glance of it. It was really HUGE!!! I have never seen such a huge dessert. 8 of us sharing just one Soufflé and yet still hardly finished it.

The bubble-liked texture was very smooth and melts in month instantly. The feel was pretty unique and impressive. The golden surface of the Soufflé was the most delicious part with the lovely smell of egg. On the other hand, the taste was a bit too pale in the middle of the Soufflé. One of my colleagues said it was just too sweet but I think it’s acceptable for me.

The waiters were well trained and you can feel their warmness. Although some of the guest was impatient for waiting the food, the waiters still keep smiling and replied with good manner. Excellent!

It was $12X per head which I considered was a “cheaper than reasonable price”. I will highly recommend all Central workers to try and feel the Hong Kong Styled food. Just like the words hanging over in the restaurant: 樂饗太平Enjoy tasty food with peaceful joy.
