It is genuinely quite surprising that almost literally hidden away at the end of a nondescript corridor in the drab Elite Industrial Building in Lai Chi Kok, lies a gaily-decorated little slice of Mexico. It's a welcoming place, with lots of wood and Mexican designs, as well as some random American signs on the walls, but on our most recent trip I think they were preparing early for Valentine's Day, because there was also an abundance of pink flowers on the walls!The menu pleasingly errs more on
The menu pleasingly errs more on the side of comfort food rather than healthy, with Mexican staples like enchiladas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas and nachos on offer, as well as a selection of other mostly-meaty dishes, snacks, and a couple of tempting desserts - although we skipped those, this time.
Given the current restrictions on dinner service, we were there for lunch, and while I (vegetarian) had nachos and ensalada de tortilla, my partner had prawn salad from the weekend/holiday lunch menu, with chicken wings, french fries and crab cakes - too much food! The nachos were crunchy and well covered with cheese, jalapeno pepper, and salsa, while my salad was a bit of a guilty treat, fresh salad, but again with plenty of toppings and served in a big tasty edible tortilla bowl. The fries were also excellent, particularly with gloopy mayo, the wings were nice and spicy, and the prawn salad was generous, and again again well provided with plenty of tangy sauce.
Overall, an enjoyable meal in comfortable surroundings, but maybe not so great for my waistline...
